Metal Roofing

Standing-seam and exposed-fastener metal roofs — 40-50 year life.

Metal roofing handles Texas heat, sheds hail better than asphalt, and lasts two to three times as long. Higher upfront cost, significant long-term value. We install both standing-seam and exposed-fastener systems.

Standing-seam metal roof with dramatic architectural lines

What we do

Friendly Restoration Services installs standing-seam and exposed-fastener metal roofs across Central Texas. Metal roofing offers 40-50+ year life, superior hail performance, and better energy efficiency than asphalt — at 2-3x the upfront cost. We install galvalume and painted steel systems from manufacturers with warranties up to 50 years on the metal and 30 years on the finish.

Metal roofing is the long-horizon choice for homeowners who want to install a roof once and be done with it. Properly installed standing-seam roofs routinely last 50+ years in Central Texas. They handle hail meaningfully better than asphalt (hail dents metal but doesn't penetrate or compromise the waterproof layer). They reflect solar heat, reducing AC load in summer. Insurance often offers discounts.

Standing-seam is the premium system: raised interlocking seams, hidden fasteners, 24-26 gauge painted steel. Clean modern aesthetic, 40-50+ year life, highest wind ratings. More expensive to install because the panel-forming is custom per roof.

Exposed-fastener (R-panel, 5V-crimp) is the budget-friendly metal option: screws go through the panel face into the decking. Works well on agricultural buildings, workshops, cabins. Not typically used on suburban residential (visible screws, shorter panel life) but it's the right answer sometimes.

Metal isn't for every home. HOAs sometimes restrict it. Snow-climate accessories aren't relevant here. If you're weighing metal vs asphalt, we'll give you a straight read on which makes more sense for your specific situation and time horizon.

How it works

From inspection to final walkthrough.

System Selection

Standing-seam vs exposed-fastener, gauge, color, seam profile. We walk you through what fits your home and HOA.

Existing Roof Removal

Full tear-off to decking. Metal needs a clean deck and proper underlayment — we don't install over existing shingles.

Underlayment + Panel Install

High-temp synthetic underlayment, then custom-cut panels. Standing-seam panels are often formed on-site for length.

Trim + Warranty

Ridge cap, valley, and edge trim. Manufacturer warranty registered. Typical project 5-10 days.

Typical Cost Range

$25,000 – $50,000

Range for typical single-family metal roof replacement in Central Texas. Standing-seam runs higher than exposed-fastener. Actual quote depends on roof complexity, gauge, and finish.

Frequently Asked

Metal Roofing — your questions, answered.

Not much with modern installation. Proper underlayment, decking, and attic insulation muffle rain noise to the point most homeowners don't notice a difference. Bare metal over open rafters (like a barn) is loud. Residential install is not.
